Common questions
How do I keep track of rebuys during a poker tournament?
Record each rebuy as another buy-in against that player while you are still at the table. Doing it live is the whole trick, because a rebuy written down twenty minutes later is a rebuy you are trusting your memory for. In PokerNite each one is its own timestamped line, so a player who bought in three times shows three lines and the pot total moves as you go.
How do I work out payout amounts that pay in real bills and chips?
Set a denomination and let the payouts round to it. PokerNite rounds the whole structure at once rather than each place separately, so the amounts land on values you can hand over and still add up to the exact pot. A $5 denomination on a $360 pot across three places pays $185, $105 and $70.
How do bounties work in a home tournament?
A bounty is a fixed amount a player collects for knocking someone out, paid at the table as it happens. Record each one as a bounty rather than a payout so it stays out of the buy-in total. When you generate the final payouts, hold the bounty money back from the pool so the prize split is calculated on what is actually left.
What happens if a player shows up late?
Record their buy-in whenever they sit down. There is no separate late entry or re-entry type to pick and nothing to reopen: a buy-in at level five is recorded exactly like one at level one, and the pot and the payout structure update to include them.
Can my players see the results without an account?
Yes. Every session has a public link showing how the night finished and what each player put in and took out. Anyone with the link can open it on a phone with no account and no app. Only the person running the game needs to sign up.
Do I need Premium to run a tournament?
No. A free account covers one poker club, tournament and cash sessions, your player list, blind structures, the timer, and the public results link. Premium adds auto-generated payouts, settle-up ledgers, season standings, club accounting, and reports.
What happens when someone cannot settle up that night?
Record the result the way it actually finished and handle the money separately. The session is a record of who won what, not a payment system, and no money moves through PokerNite. A Premium settle-up ledger carries a player's balance across several nights, so whoever is short on the night can settle later.
